Mechanical Engineer – Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants
Job Description:
We are looking for a hands-on and experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead and support technical projects for municipal water and wastewater treatment plants. This role combines theoretical engineering expertise with field operations, focusing on the installation, commissioning, and optimal operation of hydromechanical equipment and systems.
This is an on‑site role in a modern office 5 minutes from Pipera metro.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and execute the installation of specialized equipment, including pumps (centrifugal, submersible, dosing), valves (knife gate, butterfly, gate), blowers, mixers, and coarse/fine screens.
- Actively support the commissioning team during the startup and testing of mechanical systems and equipment in municipal water and wastewater treatment plants.
- Perform post-installation calibrations and checks to ensure leak tightness and nominal operating parameters.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical failures occurring during water treatment operations.
- Advanced ability to read and interpret execution plans, P&ID diagrams, isometric drawings, and mechanical assembly details; solid understanding of design principles to ensure smooth implementation on site.
- Participate in establishing execution timelines and chronological activities to integrate into the overall Execution Schedule.
- Provide specialized technical support to the Project Manager throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Deliver periodic progress reports during project status meetings.
- Organize the installation site, coordinate worker teams, and ensure strict adherence to deadlines defined in the project schedule.
- Strict enforcement of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards, particularly for working in confined spaces, basins, or environments with high biological/chemical hazards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Hydrotechnics / Building Services / Civil & Environmental Engineering)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in water and wastewater treatment, with a strong focus on municipal plant site operations
- Proven experience in installing and maintaining hydromechanical equipment (pumps, valves, actuation systems)
- Strong ability to understand engineering design documentation and apply it directly on site
- Solid understanding of the interface between mechanical components and SCADA/automation systems
- English: Conversational level (ability to communicate with international partners and read technical manuals)
- French: Represents an advantage.
- Driver's License: Category B.
